Gwaii (The Queen Charlotte Islands)
This triangular archipelago known as Haida Gwaii "islands of the people"
to the Haida People is located 80 km (50 miles) from Prince Rupert on
the British Columbia mainland. Haida Gwaii iscomprised of more than 150
islands, many small and uninhabited. Graham to the north and Moresby to
the south, are the largest of the islands.
There
are four main towns - Masset, Queen Charlotte City, Sandspit and Skidegate,
plus numerous small communities scattered throughout the islands.
To
reach Haida Gwaii you may travel by air or ferry from Prince Rupert. Direct
air service from Vancouver is also available.
