Abbotsford, British Columbia

The City of Abbotsford in BC's Fraser Valley, is one of the fastest growing areas in Canada. It is bounded by the Fraser River on the north and the U.S. border on the south.


Tucked away between British Columbia's majestic mountain ranges, Abbotsford is one of the most productive agricultural areas in Canada. Its rich combination of soil and ideal climate definitely helped Abbotsford reach its claim to the "Raspberry Capital of Canada". The area, however is not just limited to agriculture; industry of various sorts is a growing interest in the community. The beauty of the surrounding countryside plus its moderate climate lends itself to a variety of recreational pursuits for residents and visitors alike. Being in the centre of BC's Fraser Valley, it is within easy driving distance to a number of recreation sites; from waterfalls and lakes to gardens and amusement spots.

Access: Abbotsford, British Columbia, is centrally located in BC's Fraser Valley along Highway 1. Abbotsford can be easily accessed from all directions; just 72 km (43 mi.) from Vancouver, BC, 3 km (2 mi.) from the U.S. border and 68 km (40 mi.) from Harrison Hot Springs. There are various commercial and charter bus lines available as is nearby skytrain in New Westminster. There is a small airport in Abbotsford, but one has to travel to Vancouver, BC, for major flights.
