The lake itself is 14 kilometres long, averaging 1.5 kilometres in width with an irregular shoreline of approximately 57 kilometres. The low flushing rate combined with the chemical composition in these warm shallow waters creates a greenish hue, hence the name. A motorboat or canoe can be used to explore the shores and islands of this park making bird and wildlife viewing opportunities excellent. Local business operators provide boat rentals, supplies and even horseback riding. LOCATION
Green Lake Provincial Park is easily located near 70 Mile House. The Green Lake Road leads directly to the park's entrance where more information is available. PARK FACILITIES & ACTIVITIES Camping - Three campgrounds with a total of 121 sites are located within the park. They are Sunset View, Emerald Bay and Arrowhead. Group camping is available at Sunset View Group Campground.
Swimming - Green Lake's shallow, warm waters and good beaches make swimming conditions ideal. No lifeguard is on duty. Playgrounds - Both Sunset View and Emerald Bay Campgrounds contain playgrounds. All campgrounds have horseshoe pits. Fishing - Each year restocking of Rainbow Trout takes place providing fair to good opportunities. A dark, flatfish lure is recommended.
Trails - Located next to the campground in Sunset view is a self-guiding forest nature trail. The park also provides a sani-station, telephone, toilets, water, firewood and is wheelchair accessible.
