Biking in the Kootenays
The
Kootenay region of British Columbia is high snowcapped
mountains, large lakes, hot springs, and wildlife.
Fishing, skiing, kayaking, canoeing and mountains
biking are just part and parcel of the life style
in the Kootenays.
The trails in Grand
Forks and Christina
Lakes region are Thimble Mountain, Deer Point
Trail/Sandner Creek Trail, Spooner Creek Trail
and Dewdney Trail.
Rossland
in the heart of the mountains, is known as Canada's
Mountain Bike Capital and home of the Rubberhead
Mountain Bike Festival. Other famous trails are
Old Cascade Highway and Dewdney Trail, Doukhabour
Draw, Midnight Loop, 007, Green Door, Techno Grind
& Kootenay Columbia and Wagon Road. You're
sure to find a trail to suit your riding experience.
The City of Nelson,
surrounded by the Selkirk Mountains, means most
mountain biking is either straight up or straight
down. The only moderate trail in the Nelson area
is the Stanley Loop. For the expert riders, there's
Mountain Station and the Svoboda Trails, all are
steep and technical. When mountain biking remember
