Every
year, during the July 1st long weekend, BC's Lake City rolls out
the welcome mat for you to enjoy several days of action packed rodeo
excitement. 2007 will be the 81st Annual Williams Lake Stampede.
The rodeo itself features Canadian Professional Rodeo Association
action including one of the world's most dangerous events --- Bull
Riding. There's also the classic beauty of Ladies Barrel Racing
Bareback and Saddle Bronc Riding
Steer Wrestling and
Tie Down Roping. You'll see all of the top cowboys - international
rodeo competitors from Canada and the United States.
There's
more excitement as well with the Pony Chariots races. Watch as these
two-wheeled chariots careen around the oval in a mad dash to the
finish. There can be some real excitement on the last turn as rivals
run neck and neck. The Williams Lake Stampede is also pleased to
present the ever-popular Chuckwagon Races as well. Once the horn
blows, those chuckwagons thunder out of a turning start position
and then go like blazes around the track.
Music
is always a big part of the Williams Lake Stampede as well
and every year the community features concerts by talented country
music artists.
These
events and many, many more all come together to create a great family fun filled
rodeo and community-wide event - the World Famous Williams Lake Stampede! Don't miss one minute of the
excitement in the heart of British Columbia's Cowboy Country - The Cariboo! This is truly one of BC's most beautiful regions. Home to the Cariboo Gold Rush, cowboys and cattle ranching, incredible fishing and outdoor recreation! Be sure to plan enough time to experience all that the Cariboo has to offer in the Williams Lake area.
