Located
in Tumbler Ridge, Monkman Expeditions brings
you world-class hiking, heli-hiking, canoeing, and river boating
adventure expeditions in the Monkman Pass area of British
Columbia's Peace River region. In this beautiful part of the
world, you'll experience the untouched, protected wilderness
areas of the BC Rocky Mountains in Monkman Provincial Park
and area.
Day-trips with Monkman Expeditions take place on well groomed
trails. There are around 40 trails in the Tumbler Ridge region
take you into Kinuseo falls and other various small waterfalls,
caves, dinosaur trackways, lakes, and original sections of
the Monkman Pass Highway. Our 2 to 8 day expeditions focus
on the Monkman Pass Memorial Trail and Monkman Provincial Park in northern BC's Peace River region. The Memorial Trail
is approximately 60 km long and passes through Boreal Forest,
sub-alpine, Alpine, and Temperate Boreal forest. Highlights
along the trail include the secluded and extreme wilderness
where hardly another soul can be seen, Kinuseo falls, series
of 10 waterfalls, Monkman Lake, the Tarns region, Fontoniko
valley, and many historical trail markings from the Highway
Association. For those who enjoy the wilderness but either
can not pack the weight, or would just rather enjoy the wilderness
without the work, then the heli-access hiking or sightseeing
with Monkman Expeditions is the answer.
Monkman Expeditions is also now offering trips down Monkman Creek or the Murray River. These 2 to 3 day trips take you
down Class I grade moving water and you'll be blown away by
the beauty of this area
and the great fishing. The
Rivers and Creeks are known for world class Bull Trout fishing.
A few sections on the Monkman Creek trip require a portage,
featuring Monkman Lake, and the Cascades, a series of 10 cascading
waterfalls.
Large crystal clear rivers dominate the Peace River region
of northern British Columbia, and one excellent way to enjoy
them is on a riverboat with Monkman Expeditions, located in
Tumbler Ridge. This is an exciting and exhilarating experience
in a Jetboat designed for rivers. Whether sightseeing or fishing
for giant bull tout, it is an experience you will not forget.
The Monkman Pass Memorial Trail hike can be finished with
a riverboat trip down the river to Prince George which follows
the original way the Highway Association workers got down
to Prince George.
Sheer determination and courage is something that Western
Canadians, in the Monkman Pass area of Northern British Columbia,
are famous for
which is why the Peace Region is so
successful today.
