First Class
Kumsheen Raft Adventures is one of Canada's largest, most
experienced white water rafting outfitters. For over a quarter
century our passion has been the whitewater of BC's legendary
Thompson and Fraser Rivers. No one in the world understands
them better than us. To make your Kumsheen adventure unique,
memorable, and filled with experiences that meet and exceed
your expectations, we have employed personable, genuinely
interested guides and staff. We're not just a rafting company
- we're a team that's focused on building memorable experiences.
Besides
our whitewater expertise you get one of the finest rafting
resorts in the world, delicious food in the Cutting Board
Restaurant and riverside, immaculate resort facilities, clean
washrooms and change rooms, state-of-the-art equipment, bright
guides and staff - all at your disposal.
Kumsheen
is a family business, and we've also discovered that more
and more Kumsheen guests want to enjoy active vacations with
their family. We understand kids - and parents. It's all about
quality family time: meeting people, exploring together, playing
games together, sitting around the campfire together, and
enjoying meals together. But parents need a bit of private
vacation time as well. At our resort you don't have to worry
about where they are or what they're doing. For example, they
can play beach volleyball or board games while you indulge
yourself in the spa.
Only you
can decide which package is best suited to your family. We've
traditionally designated our rafting excursions from 10 or
12 years and up, and have offered special fares for youth
up to 16 years of age. Each package has a recommended minimum
age so be sure to select the one that suits the ages of your
children, as well as their interests. Regardless of which
package you select, we know that your family will grow closer
because of the experience you have shared.
Getting
Ready for Big Water!
The Thompson and Fraser are large, deep rivers. The Thompson
is a tributary of the Fraser and carries about one-third the
flow of the Fraser. They meet at Lytton (The Salish Indians
of Lytton referred to the spectacle of these two great rivers
converging as the great forks or "kumsheen". Hence
our name.) An
average spring runoff is 115,000 cfs for the Thompson and
350,000 cfs for the Fraser - most whitewater rafting rivers
in North America flow between 1000 to 5000 cfs - this is an
enormous amount of water!
