Whale Watching Tours
Victoria, Vancouver Island, BC
The
spectacular Inner Harbour of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada,
is the home base of whale watching operations for Great Pacific
Adventures Incorporated.
We
have two types of vessels to choose from for your whale watching
adventure. Ride in the comfort of a 45 ft ocean cruiser, which
offers both inside and outside seating, OR in an exhilarating
ridged-hulled zodiac. Either boat offers an exceptional whale
watching experience.
Enjoy
the scenery as we travel the waters and islands of Juan de
Fuca Strait, Haro Strait and the Strait of Georgia, which
is the part-time home to three groups of "resident"
whales, commonly known as "pods" of orca, or "killer"
whales. These majestic groups of families and individual whales
live and thrive mainly on salmon and other species of fish
found in the waters of the Pacific Northwest. On occasion,
"transient" orca whales are encountered on an individual
or group basis, and are mainly dependent on other mammals,
such as seals and sea lions as a core food source. Pods can
gather together to form "super-pods" and have reached
vast numbers in excess of 80 whales at a time!
Transportation
packages from Vancouver are available. You can travel by West
Coast Air floatplane from Vancouver directly to Victoria's
Inner Harbour, or ride and sail through the beautiful Gulf
Islands to Victoria with Pacific Coach Lines and BC Ferries.
After
years of guiding, our naturalists know where the whales are,
and recognize individual whales by sight. Learn about the
ocean, the whales, porpoises, seals, eagles, and seabirds
of the ecosystem.
From whale watching to kayaking, bicycle tours, power boating,
hiking and equipment rentals, Great Pacific Adventures is
your one stop eco-tour adventure provider.
