BOOKING
PROCEDURES DEPOSIT: To confirm your reservation, we require a non-refundable
deposit of $400.00 per person. Payment can be made by personal cheque,
or by using Visa, Mastercard or American Express.
CANCELLATION
INSURANCE: By necessity, we have strict cancellation policies and
therefore recommend all guests purchase cancellation insurance. It is
available from our office, and can only be purchased when making your
deposit.
FINAL PAYMENT: We must receive the final payment a minimum of
90 days prior to the start of your trip to Fortress Lake. We prefer
that your final payments be made by cheque. Overdue payments may result
in the cancellation and resale of your reserved space, with no refund
applicable to you.
TRAVEL
PLANS - A SAFETY NOTE Please
do not make plans to use scheduled air, rail, or bus transport on the
same day that you are departing Fortress Lake. For your own safety we
will not fly in or out of camp during stormy weather, or during periods
of low visibility. Guests should allow enough time in their other travel
plans to absorb any transportation delays caused by poor weather. Fortress
Lake is a remote and wild place, and while for many of us this is its
main attraction, mountain weather does not operate on a schedule. If
you are delayed and have to spend an extra night at the camp, we will
ask to recover a portion of our accommodation costs. We will also provide
a full refund for lost nights, if weather delays your initial arrival.
Please review our Cancellation Policy carefully.
CANCELLATION
POLICY
Places
Less Travelled Ltd. (PLT) has strict cancellation policies at
Fortress Lake Wilderness Retreat. The opportunity for refunds
and/or credits resulting from a cancellation are limited. Payment
in part or full is considered as agreement to the following
terms and conditions:
- Your
deposit is non-refundable. Final payments are due 90 days prior
to your arrival.
-
Failure to pay your account on time may subject your booking
to cancellation and forfeiture of all fees paid to date.
- Upon
written cancellation received 90 days prior to your arrival,
any funds received in excess of your non-refundable deposit
will be returned. A cancellation received less than 90 days
prior to your arrival will receive no consideration.
- PLT
reserves the right to cancel any or part of a tour and will
give as much notice as possible. Cancellation due to reasons
beyond PLT's control will result in a credit for any unused
portion of the tour. This credit is valid for one calendar year.
Cancellation due to reasons within PLT's control may receive
a refund for the unused portion of the tour. This refund will
be issued within 30 days.
- Guests
choosing to depart prior to tour completion will not be eligible
for any credit or refund.
- Guests
are bound by scheduled arrival and departure times. "No shows"
will forfeit the entire cost of the tour package. If a guest
is late, for any reason whatsoever, they will be responsible
for the cost of missed meals, new flight connections, etc.
- Guests
whose flight to the lake is delayed due to factors beyond the
control of PLT (such as weather, public emergency, and aircraft
availability) shall wait at least 24 hours before requesting
cancellation. During this period, PLT shall be solely responsible
for deciding when it is possible to safely proceed with the
tour, but will diligently pursue this goal.
-
Guests delayed overnight in Golden by factors beyond the control
of PLT, will be responsible for their own accommodation and
meals. PLT will refund the unused portion of their camp accommodation.
This payment will be made within 30 days.
-
Guests delayed over 24 hours may request cancellation and receive
full credit towards an alternative tour date, within one calendar
year.
-
Guests held overnight at the camp due to uncontrollable departure
delays shall be charged a flat rate of $95.00 per person, per
night. These accounts are payable prior to departure from the
camp.
