Far
from the nearest road, Fortress Lake remains THE last hidden jewel in
the Canadian Rockies!
The
remote location, and a wilderness designation, has protected Hamber
Provincial Park from the development and increased use that has negatively
impacted so many Mountain Parks. This pristine lake is surrounded by
4 major icefields, with tumbling glaciers and towering mountain peaks
of unparalleled beauty. To the south and east are the magnificent Chaba,
Clemenceau, and Columbia Icefields, with the lovely Hooker Icefield
and Serenity Glacier framing the west end of the lake.
This
is truly a mountain paradise, and Fortress Lake Wilderness Retreat is
the only facility servicing this seldom visited Park. In splendid isolation
with friends and family, you can enjoy photography, hiking, mountaineering,
sea kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and trophy trout fishing, among other
wilderness pursuits.
