Farewell
Harbour Resort invites you to relax and enjoy fishing,
kayaking or just exploring in magnificent surroundings. Your
fishing vacation with Farewell Harbour Resort will put you
in the heart of the best salmon and halibut fishing on the
west coast of British Columbia, Canada. Near the top of Vancouver
Island and overlooking the dramatic Inside Passage, Blackfish
Sound is our front yard and home of Killer Whales (Orca) as
well as an excellent fishing ground. Our isolated fly-in resort
is ideally situated on 50 privately owned acres on beautiful
Berry Island, part of the Broughton Archipelago Marine Park,
British Columbia's largest marine preserve.
Our fishing season runs from early June to late September
as we target all five species of salmon, halibut and other
bottom fish. All our trips are fully guided with safe, comfortable
boats and top-notch gear. Our most popular packages are 3
or 4 night stays, but we are happy to cater to your schedule
as our calendar is flexible - no fixed trip dates. Book early
as our regular guests are quick to claim their week!
Our menu trends toward healthy Pacific Northwest fare including
moist barbequed salmon, creamy Halibut Florentine or steaks
grilled to perfection. Follow this up with a scrumptious desert
like Mary's Rum Cake
.then soak in the Jacuzzi or just
relax and watch the stars before retiring to your waterfront
room with its own cozy woodstove. As you drift off to sleep
you might realize that all you can hear is the gentle rhythm
of the sea
.
If you simply can't say "Farewell" after 3 nights,
we make it easy and offer a longer stay which includes a special
expedition to fly fish a pristine river at the head of a remote
coastal fjord. Bright sea-run cutthroat trout and Dolly Varden
are waiting for your fly (catch and release only), and the
odd grizzly bear sighting is a bonus (especially if he releases
you, too). Don't worry if you've never fly fished before -
our expert guides will make it easy. Along the way we show
you the heart of the West Coast of British Columbia and you
get to meet some of the characters who call this special area
home.
Or, we can organize adventures which might include whale watching,
kayaking, cultural tours of local First Nations sites, or
simply exploring the Broughton Archipelago - hundreds of islands
and sheltered waterways. We usually have a few spots available
for non-anglers and, for the more adventurous, almost everything
can be prefixed with "Heli-".
Farewell
Harbour has a reputation amongst corporate North America as
one of the most intimate fly-in destinations for small groups.
Since we cater to just 12 anglers (and a maximum of 16 guests)
and have an almost one to one ratio of staff to guests, we
strive to make your group feel pampered. We offer discounts
for groups of 6 or more with special recognition for group
leaders. As well, we offer the exclusive use of the lodge
for any size group - you get to pretend it's yours for the
duration!
