 enjoy
a wilderness adventure at Chilko River Lodge & Guest Ranch! Our ranch
and lodge, on the banks of the famous Chilko River, is surrounded by marvelous
scenery including Ts’ylos Provincial Park. We are in the heart of the
Chilcotin on the eastern foothills of the Coast Mountains, where nature
abounds offering refreshing spirits to rejuvenate the body and soul. This
is a land of towering mountains, fresh air, horseback riding, fishing
in clear blue lakes and adventure hiking through immense forests and alpine
meadows.
We
are a small outfit that includes your hosts Annett and Hans Wittwer and
our three year old daughter Ronya. To our lodge family belongs further
seven horses, several cats and our dogs smokey and bandit. They are all
friendly and animal loving children will always find a playmate. Come
and enjoy your stay at the Chilko River Lodge and experience the natural
wild beauty of the Chilko area. Surrounded by spectacular peaks and glaciers
and the wonderful scenery of Ts'ylos Provincial Park, the outdoor activities
available to our guests are endless!
A
variety of wildlife are living in the area. You may see Bald Eagles, Golden
Eagles, Deer and Beaver. During
mid August the sockeye salmon begin arriving. All of September the waters
of the Chilko River are alive with spawning red salmon - truly a sight
to see! This in turn draws the bears closer and makes this the best time
for possibly viewing and photographing Black Bears and Grizzly Bears.

Our
lodge consists of the main house and four log cabins for rent. The honeymoon
cabin is a cozy place just for two while the other three cabins can accommodate
5-6 people comfortably and are ideal for families,
small groups and friends.
The
interior of the cabins consists of
a comfortable sitting area with a Yukon stove (for those cooler days and
nights), a small kitchen with fridge. Bathrooms come equipped with sink,
shower (hot/cold water) and flush toilets. We supply the kitchen utensils,
towels and bedding.
The
basic idea of our Lodge is to allow guests the maximum in freedom and
individuality. Therefore, the cabins are equipped with complete cooking
facilities, or join us in the main house where we serve good home cooking
and licensed restaurant.
We don't really cater to any special
clientele - everybody is welcome. Guests at the lodge usually become part
of the family quickly.

The
Chilko River is known for it's great fly fishing (catch and release only).
For those wanting to keep their catch (up to two fish), the nearby lake
will accommodate you. With or without a fishing rod, Chilko River and
Chilko Lakes beauty are breathtaking. We offer jetboat tours on the river
and motorboat excursions on Chilko Lake.
Our
guided trail rides are enjoyable for everybody and go from just short
trips for beginners to day tours for the more experienced riders. Quite
often our guests have never sat on a horse before - if this is the same
for you, don't let it stop you from trying horseback riding. It is a great
way to enjoy the country.
